The ACT division of the Australian Historical Railway Society is a heritage railway, tour train and museum operator and in Canberra offers a surprising variety of heritage train experiences.
You can create your own rail memories aboard the Federal City Express. For over 40 years we’ve offered the broadest range of rail heritage experiences, from nostalgic journeys using restored steam locomotives and carriages from railway’s golden age to relaxing weekends away experiencing the best the east coast can offer.
The Canberra Railway Museum (open every Sunday) displays historic locomotives, passenger carriages, freight vehicles, track machinery and railway memorabilia. Guided tours are provided. On the last Sunday of the month, rail motor rides operate from the Museum to Fyshwick while the nearby Kingston Miniature Railway provides rides through the grounds of the Museum.
