ATHRA Safety

Regulation

ONRSR (Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator)

Read “ONRSR Engage e-newsletter” from September and October.

Of particular note to T&H operators that interface or operate on the mainline is the ONRSR statement that “T&H operators will be exempt from the new requirement, even if they operate on the NNI (National Network for Interoperability)”, as the first step involves significant change to the requirements of an SMS.

Because of the potential long term effects full interoperability may have on T&H operators that interface or operate on the mainline, ATHRA encourages T&H operators to view the Interoperability of Railway Operations presentation, provide feedback on the draft guideline by the 14 November 2025 by emailing contact@onrsr.com.au and stay informed on the matter.
