The RISSB is performing a targeted review of AS 7531 Rolling Stock Lighting and Visibility.
- AS 7645 Rail Corridor Management – Review – Rob Ashworth ATHRA rep
AS 7644 is undergoing a targeted aged review and will align with current environmental legislative practices at the local, state and federal levels.

The first meeting was held on 1 September, what was discussed and finalised was areas of th CoP being reviewed and the approach being taken in undertaking the review of a 268 page document. It is anticipated the first stage of the review will take approximately 3 months to complete.

The AS 7529.1 Fire Safety Locomotives and Freight draft is now open for Public Consultation.
How this product helps the rail industry
This requirements of this standard will minimise the fire risk on locomotive and freight rolling stock, including from emerging zero emissions technologies, to life of train crew, as well as the risks that a fire may pose to the life safety of other users of the infrastructure.
New zero emissions technologies such as lithium–ion batteries, hydrogen and ammonia are being rolled out in new rolling stock and retrofitted to existing rolling stock. These new technologies have implications for fire safety for those involved in the operation and maintenance of these vehicles.

How this product helps the rail industry
AS 7722 EMC Management defines requirements for the management of electromagnetic emissions and susceptibility of devices used in the railway so that all systems used in the railway are electromagnetically compatible.
The Standard provides a harmonised approach to the management of electromagnetic emissions in a railway operating environment so that all systems used in the railway align with Australian legislative requirements and international Standards.

Supporting the National Transport Commission’s (NTC) work on mandatory standards for ETCS interoperability, this review ensures AS 7711 will enable the implementation of future digital train control systems.
AS 7711 has long been the benchmark for signalling principles, and now is an opportune time to assess whether and how these principles can be applied to new safe working systems, such as ETCS and CBTC.
