ATHRA training and assessment

ATHRA Australia offers Tourist and Heritage (T&H) training material and assessment services (by qualified ATHRA assessors throughout Australia) to:

  • its members (T&H railways),
  • their employees and volunteers (T&H learners).

Training and assessment services cover the following subject areas:

  • BTD Bush Tramway Driver
  • DLD Diesel Locomotive Driver
  • DLF Diesel Locomotive Fireman
  • DSD Diesel Shunt Driver
  • RMD Rail Motor Driver
  • RSW Rail Safety Worker
  • SLD Steam Locomotive Driver
  • SLF Steam Locomotive Fireman
  • SSD Steam Shunt Driver
  • YSH Yard shunter

Training documents published prior to 2025 may not fully align to the current VET units of competency specified by the Australian Government. ATHRA is progressively reviewing documents available via the ATHRA training portal to bring them up to date and address current requirements.
